Indianapolis and Central Indiana give THM a focused environment to build the certification program the right way — with real creators, real submissions, and real feedback — before expanding.
Work directly with creators
Indianapolis gives THM direct access to independent writers, journalists, newsletter publishers, and bloggers who can participate in the early certification process and provide feedback on how it works in practice.
Build relationships
Certification standards are built on trust. Starting locally allows THM to build relationships with creators and editorial organizations before scaling.
Test the certification process
The initial certification process needs to be tested with real submissions before it can be applied consistently at scale. Indianapolis provides that testing environment.
Refine standards
Evidence requirements, review procedures, and certification decisions need to be refined through real-world application. Starting locally makes that refinement process manageable.
Improve reviewer consistency
Consistent certification decisions require consistent reviewers. Building reviewer capacity locally first allows THM to establish consistency before expanding.
Develop early case studies
Early certified works from Indianapolis-area creators will form the foundation of THM's public record and help demonstrate what the certification process looks like in practice.
Build local credibility
A certification standard is only as credible as its track record. Indianapolis is where THM builds that track record.

Eligible applicants outside Indianapolis and Central Indiana can apply through the same certification process. THM does not restrict certification by geography. The Indianapolis launch is about where THM is building its initial relationships and refining its process — not about who can apply.

THM is not Indianapolis only. Eligible applicants nationwide may apply.
THM does not require applicants to be located in Indiana.
THM does not currently have a physical office or walk in certification center.
THM does not claim to have established partnerships with Indianapolis media organizations unless those relationships are confirmed.
